मेरे देश में पैसा सिर्फ़ पैसा नही है .

Its really a very uncomfortable feeling to hear/read stuff which could have been much better. Specially coming from one of the finest writers in advertising. Here's my version of it.


मेरे देश में पैसा सिर्फ़ पैसा नही है ।

सौ सपने, 101 उम्मीदें,
कहीं दिवाली, कभी ईदें ।

दुआ कह उछाला है,
चेहरे का उजाला है ।

बो के उगाया है,
नम्बर देख कर, बटुए में छुपाया है ।

आंखों का भरोसा है,
चाव से परोसा है ।

माथे पे पहना है,
सर का उतारा है,
कभी कहीं चाँद तो,
कहीं आंखों का तारा है ।

सिरहाने चुपके से छोड़ा है,
नया रिश्ता जोड़ा है ।
माथे पर बल पड़ गए,
जो ग़लती से मोड़ा है ।

देश का रंग है,
जैसा भेस बस वैसा येही है ।
मेरे देश में पैसा सिर्फ़ पैसा नही है ।

You know, I have been telling Gautam the same thing... that the thought behind this ad is nice.. but the words are very... cheap sort of.. i don't know how to explain it.. I dont like the ad one bit and whenever it comeson, I always feel like its such a waste of such a good thought!!

Your poem is better than the original i think.. But i still have a problem with that original line.. "mere des mein, paisa sirf paisa nahi hai"... and in any case in times of recession the line should read "mere des mein paisa hi nahi hai!!!"

Its difficult to believe the original author also happens to be the lyricist of 'TZP'.. Clearly goes on to prove once you are brand you can get away with any crap...Way to go 'Sid'..am betting on you !!
